BitBasel Integrates Nori’s Carbon Removal Tokens for Sustainable NFT Minting

BitBasel is partnering with Nori to provide a carbon-neutral NFT minting solution by pairing their NFT smart contract with Nori’s NRT “Carbon Removal Tokens”. The goal of this partnership is to promote low-emission blockchain technologies and carbon negative NFT minting.

Nori is a unique crypto-native solution for tokenizing, commoditizing, and selling carbon removal credits. They are the creators of the “Carbon Removal Token” (NRT). One NRT represent one tonne of CO2 removed from the atmosphere and stored in the ground. This is achieved by enabling farmers to tokenize the carbon they sequester into the soil. The farmers can then sell the tokens to companies with high energy consumption in order to offset their carbon footprint.

It is estimated that 0.2 tonnes of CO2 emissions are generated by the average NFT minted on the Ethereum blockchain. One Nori Removal Tonnes (NRTs) removes one tonne of CO2 from the atmosphere, which is verified transparency through unique certificates, which are themselves NFTs recorded on the blockchain.

Nori has helped various companies reverse or offset the carbon emissions resulting from their business operations. In one example, Shopify used Nori to reverse carbon emissions associated with delivering purchases from Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
