Miami, FL (October 22, 2021) — Deploying his effort to introduce District 5 to the $2.4 Trillion cryptocurrency market, Commissioner Jeffrey Watson through different levels of collaboration with Little Haiti Coin ($LHTC) and BitBasel, have financed a one-time assistance cash grant of $5,000 to:

  • 20 Mom & Pop Shops located in Little Haiti; and
  • 20 pop-up vendors contracted to Little Haiti.

Little Haiti Coin ($LHTC) is a cryptocurrency created to encourage local investment in Little Haiti even as large-scale developments descend upon the area

“As a social-economic token, $LHTC’s first utility is to beautify Little Haiti. Now, thanks to the Commissioner, we have a solution to stimulate local businesses in Miami while simultaneously supporting Haitian farmers back home,” says Captain Haiti, founder of $LHTC.

What could 1 $LHTC get you? You can redeem your $LHTC for 40 available items in Little Haiti. A $50 bag of Haitian rice, a $200 shirt made in Haiti or a $1,000 credit to party with an Haitian DJ. These are a few Haitian-centric items you could enjoy on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

To support the education and onboarding of the grant program, $LHTC has partnered with BitBasel, Miami’s CryptoArt community. The BitBasel community has been pushing the adoption of cryptocurrency throughout Miami since 2017.

“We look forward to working with Captain Haiti to introduce low income families to cryptocurrency across the city of Miami through Little Haiti Coin. Commissioner Watson understands that cryptocurrency empowers communities, and District 5 is the perfect setting to showcase the potential this technology has for creating positive economic and social impact,” says Scott Spiegel, Co-founder of BitBasel and former founder of the Bitcoin Center Miami , an educational center for Bitcoin and blockchain technology.

Commissioner Watson highlights the importance of maintaining the city’s rich culture while integrating cutting edge technology

“Subsidizing 40 Haitian-centric goods is my way to incentive business owners to invest in Little Haiti without changing its rich DNA,” says Commissioner Watson.

“I hope that the crypto community will gather behind Commissioner Jeffrey Watson to give him the opportunity to duplicate this crypto grant in all neighborhoods of District 5,” concluded Captain Haiti.
