Space Tech experts join BitBasel to discuss NFTs raising awareness to make space exploration accessible to all. Having made it into orbit and the furthest depths of our oceans, ‘Seeker’ NFT sells for 22ETH.

The intrepid first explorers to space are garnering global attention and connecting us as species to new heights of technological advancement. Through Inspiration4’s first civilian mission, artists from around the world have contributed 1 of 1 NFTs that have made it into orbit. Upon their return the artworks will be auctioned off in an effort to raise a $200 million fundraising goal for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Among these works the piece ‘Seeker’ by Dr. Sian Proctor that has traveled to the depths of the ocean furthest reach, the Mariana Trench with @RichardGarriott, has submerged to visit the Titanic ruins with @AstroDocScott and @minwadhwa and beamed into orbit on @Inspiration4x was auctioned live BitBasel NFT showcase. The Artists Dr. Scian, the first African American female pilot in space, joined BitBasel to share her motto of how we can all create J.E.D.I. space (Just, Equitable, Diverse, and Inclusive) as we advance human spaceflight.

Art depicts history in a way that words that cannot. With the use of NFTs, digital creations are able to travel to new frontiers whereas before taking canvases onboard would have been prohibitively expensive. Jane Poynter, the founder, co-CEO and chief experience officer of Space Perspective, was among the scientists at BitBasel Space Tech Happy Hour panel to share plans lowering cost of civilian space flight and flying visual, literary, digital, culinary and performing arts to forge collaboration between science, technology, and creativity, illustrating that exploring the world we live in and communicating the human experience is possible in ways that engineering, and technology cannot. Organizations like Space for Humanity are already taking applications for citizen astronauts to expand access. As co-founder Kyle Schember points out

“space is for everyone”

Canines included. Mike Mongo an astronaut teacher, artist, author of The Astronaut Instruction Manual, co-founder of OBEY, and co-creator of the Cosmic Paws NFT collections. Together with Kyle Schember and Gio Vignone, Cosmic Paws’ genesis NFT drop Muttniks became the first generative collectible to be launched into orbit and returned to Earth with astronaut Dr. Sian Proctor. In homage to the dogs that were sent on a one way mission to pave the way for future generations, the project raised money for sheltered dogs in need.

Although it may take another decade before the stars are in reach of the masses, the borders of how art and culture is shared has taken on a new paradigm through the use of distributed technology. By making these revolutionary advancements and allowing people to engage in a tangible way we can all hold hope and excitement for an interplanetary future.

Grant Blaisdell, Co-Founder and CEO of Copernic Space

Grant Blaisdell, Co-Founder and CEO of Copernic Space is using blockchain technology, specifically NFTs to provide equal access to growth of the already estimated $500B space market by tokenizing space cargo. By acquiring tradable NFTs representing ownership on the Lunar Outpost Rover going to the Moon in 2022, purchasers will also have the opportunity to send their cargo to the Moon. Defi technology is allowing investment equal access without privilege.

With the use of NFTs the commercial space sector is progressing towards bringing down the astronomical costs of interplanetary exploration to open the vastness of space to a broad audience. As the early era of space tourism dawns upon us, we can only begin to imagine the possibilities of a new branch of civilization.
